The Final Approach to Property
49 photos
When was the last time you said that you love your driveway? When has anyone ever said that? Here, you can exclaim it every time you return to your property.
This is where the final two-and-a-half-mile approach to your driveway begins and it features one of the best views in the county and in the state. Shrouded in mist most mornings, the river seems to hang in the air as a serpentine, continuous cloud while the rising sun melts away the condensation clinging to the valley. The view opens to epic proportions and offers a panoramic vista of one hundred eighty degrees to the south and west. Here, you can see for miles on clear days, well into Maryland and distant Pennsylvania. Sometimes the view suggests infinity; it reminds us of how small we are and how large the world.
Storms roll in from the west and flood the valley with force. Sometimes the snow blows uphill. Sunlight and clouds dance across this space in a constant interplay of blinding light and cast shadow, the river glints like flowing diamond deposits, and the sunsets put even the greatest artists to shame.
When you start your descent down the mountain, you’ll do it wearing a smile every time. Welcome home, to one of the greatest driveways anywhere.
